On April 26, I am a participant in a panel discussion, where I spoke with Colin Hood and Christer Fr\u00f6ling about the requirements<\/a> debate. The webinar will be held in English and is entitled \"Disrupting Requirements: Finding a Better Way\".<\/p>\n

The topic of the debate is textual requirements. Requirements are more important than ever, but what works in one industry is not necessarily transferable to others. Nevertheless, we need correct, consistent and complete requirements. How do we get there?<\/p>\n

Colin, Christer and I would of course be delighted to see a large number of participants. The webinar is organized by Jama, but the content of the event is manufacturer-neutral. Below are a few more thoughts on the topic and details about the event.<\/p>\n

Quo Vadis requirements?<\/h2>\n

I have already referred to the Keynote speech by Thorsten Weyer at ReConf 2018<\/a> referred to. Even if many see the requirements expert as a dying breed, Thorsten predicts that they will make a comeback. I fully agree with this, for various reasons. Firstly, we can only create competitive products with good requirements. Furthermore, I can well imagine machines evaluating their own requirements at runtime in the medium term.<\/p>\n

I also assume that textual requirements will remain with us for a long time to come. After all, we are dealing with so many different stakeholders in product development that natural language will remain the lowest common denominator for a while yet.<\/p>\n

At the same time, there are two trends that will have a lasting impact on requirements management. On the one hand, agility is here to stay. Without agile methods, it is hardly possible to remain competitive. The second trend is the automated processing of requirements, and this is only possible with modeling. As I have done many times before, I would like to emphasize that also a simple entity-relationship model<\/a> is already a model.<\/p>\n

The above is my perspective, and I look forward to hearing other views on April 26. Colin Hood<\/a> I have known him for 12 years now and know that he will certainly bring a breath of fresh air to the discussion.<\/p>\n

I only recently got to know Christer Fr\u00f6ling. He is the CEO of RE:Qualify<\/a>. His focus is on quality and reuse in requirements management.<\/p>\n
