Systems Engineering at the EclipseCon Europe 2015

Eclipse - traditionally better known for Java development - has been trying to get a foothold in systems development for several years now. There was plenty of evidence of this at EclipseCon Europe this year, as well as in my own presentation, openETCS - Eclipse in the Rail Domainwas all about this topic. Not only in lectures, but also represented by exhibitors was Papyrus (UML/SysML), which has visibly improved since Luna. In my opinion, however, it is still not fit for productive use. While Papyrus is only one component PolarSys currently the most active open Eclipse distribution for systems engineering. But PolarSys still has a long way to go before it is ready for commercial use.
