ReConf is one of the best-known conferences in Germany on the subject of requirements management, which is an important part of systems engineering. Once again this year, I will be attending ReConf not only as a participant but also as a lecturer with several contributions.

Workshop: Pragmatic systems engineering through modeling
Lately, everyone seems to have returned to the MBSE-fever: Modeling tools are being experimented with everywhere (MB-), and employees are being certified for systems engineering (-SE). However, it is not easy to make a demonstrable contribution to business success in the end.
In this four-hour workshop, I am concerned with results. This requires a certain amount of pragmatism. In particular, it is simply not possible to go from zero to one hundred; a team must not be overwhelmed during an introduction.
You cannot go from document-based work to a formal SysML specification in a single step.
Lecture: Agile development of complex products thanks to modeling
Agility and modeling - Is that even possible? Not only that: in my opinion, modeling is the foundation that makes the use of agility in product development possible in the first place. The reason: one of the most important aspects of agile development is dealing with changes. And modeling enables precise handling of changes.
I've written this on this blog several times before, but I don't think it can be said often enough.
Lecture: Why now is the time to give old RE tools the boot
First of all: This is a sponsored lecture, which I am presenting on behalf of Jama Software will be held.
But I stand by this statement: It's time to move away from the first generation of RE tools. Many of these desktop applications date back to the 90s. Back then, they were revolutionary and made it possible to master requirements through fine-grained versioning, traceability and baselines. However, there are now many things that have either been tacked on or are missing altogether: collaboration, reuse, integration options and, of course, simple, intuitive usability.
It remains to be seen whether Jama or one of the other 2nd generation RE tools is the right choice. But without modern requirements engineering, it is almost impossible to develop complex products.
The Little Red Riding Hood show
The ReConf organizers have come up with something new this year: the sponsors of the event are allowed to show how well their tools can cope with a specific task. Little Red Riding Hood wants a wolf-proof car, which Snow White's dwarves are supposed to develop for her. I will show how Jama Connect solves this challenge several times at the ReConf.
