5 guiding principles for engineers to achieve success and fulfillment in their profession
Who wants to deal with overly dry topics in the summer? So this summer, I would like to give my readers a few ideas on how we can turn our profession into a vocation. After all, we don't just work to earn money, but also to find success and fulfillment in our careers.
I myself discovered technology as a teenager and soldered, tinkered, programmed and even sold my first software while I was still at school. Over 30 years have passed since then. During this time, a few guiding principles have crystallized that I would like to share with you.
This series is aimed not only at career starters but also at professionals - after all, it's never too late to learn something new or make a change.
Each episode is accompanied by a short video (please share!) and a brief summary of the content. Have fun and good luck as an engineer!

5 Guiding Principles - An overview (3 minutes)
We live at a time that is incredibly exciting for engineers. is. We can work with interesting technologies and choose our employer more or less freely. That's why I think it's a shame when other engineers don't feel successful or don't find fulfillment in their work.
A long time ago, I started writing down my professional goals and regularly questioning and adapting them. Looking back, several guiding principles have emerged that I would like to share with other people.
I am addressing engineers because I am one myself. But these guiding principles are applicable to everyone.
Structure according to Simon Sinek
I describe each of the basic principles based on the structure of Simon Sinekwho always asks "why" first.
The "why" answers the question of values, visions and motivation. Only when we have understood this can we deal with the "how", i.e. how do we implement the basic principle? The "what" describes the result.
Why this series?
The days of a single lifelong employer are over; the traditional career path is now just one of many. And not only that: the traditional career path is risky: fulfillment is often not even expected. But work can and should be fun. Especially as an engineer, there is hardly a better time to be professionally active.
How?
For each basic principle, I have created a short video (3-7 minutes each) to convey the principle. Of course, such a short time is not enough to go into depth. That's why I recommend at least one book on the subject in each video.
