ReConf again at last!

ReConf again at last! - Hightlight

ReConf is the largest conference on requirements management in Germany. I have attended the event almost every year since 2007, mostly as a speaker. ReConf usually takes place in March. The year before last, it coincided directly with the start of the corona pandemic, which is why ReConf 2020 was unfortunately canceled at short notice.

But after several postponements, the event is now actually starting again on April 26. I'll be there, again with a presentation. Who would like to meet me there? Here are the highlights

Hightlight 1: Meeting people!

I'm certainly not the only one who longs for a personal exchange with colleagues. I found it exciting how online conferencing systems tried to replace contact. In addition to the fairly widespread gather.town has personally spatial.chat even better, as this also works well on mobile devices. At some events, the beer was sent by post.

With the right infrastructure, online events are also a lot of fun. Not only that: online events have a much greater reach, as there is no need to travel.

Highlight 2: Four exciting keynotes

As always, the four keynotes are a mixture of professional food for thought and impulses from outside. I am particularly looking forward to the presentation by Ranga Yogeshwarwho, as an author and journalist, makes an important contribution to social discourse.

Highlight 3: New tracks

Of course, the "usual suspects" tracks are represented as always, such as agile RE and tools and methods. But there are also new tracks:

  • AI & digitization - As I have been intensively involved with the topic of Artificial intelligence I am really looking forward to the content of this track.
  • Communication - Even before Corona communication was important. But without the possibility of holding workshops and other events in the same room, communication has become even more important.
  • Success/failure - The interest in case studies and concrete project experiences has always been high. That's why I think it's great that there is now a separate track for this. Even if we much prefer to talk about successes, we can learn a lot from failures.

My presentation: Modeling requirements with AI without anyone noticing

Everyone can decide for themselves whether my presentation is a highlight. On Wednesday, April 27 at 14:55 I will give this talk at Nemetschek Haus. This talk is about my frustration that model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is not really catching on. By the way: there is only one presentation on MBSE! I see a lot of potential to realize at least part of the modeling via AI-based tools, especially the mechanical, non-creative activities. This talk is about what this could look like and what the state of the art is.

Conclusion: Many reasons to travel to ReConf

But the most important reason is to meet other people. I am already looking forward to ReConf to refresh many old acquaintances.
