Having lived in the USA for ten years, English was not an issue for me. But at least in 2015, English was a hurdle for many companies. But it wasn't just the language: many colleagues felt excluded from SE topics. Germany simply ill-informed. Germany is a large market that is characterized by the dominance of the Automotive industry has certain peculiarities.

This is one of the reasons why I launched SE-Trends in 2015. Another reason is my passion for the Systems Engineering.

Even at school, I enjoyed tinkering with electronics, experimenting with mechanics and programming with a passion. At 17, I sold my first software to a magazine and had a self-built 200W stereo system at home.

I chose shipbuilding as my course of study - a field that combines mechanics, electrics and software. I started in Hamburg and finished my studies in the USA on Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It wasn't until 2005, with experience in several VC-financed start-ups, that I returned to Germany. Since then, I have been working holistically in systems engineering.

I help my customers with my company, the Formal Mind GmbH. My passion is still software tools and I have already developed several commercial tools:

• ReqIF Studioa ReqIF editor (free basic version with commercial extensions)
• Semiantan AI-supported quality assistant for product development.
