18 patterns to make product development more effective

To remain effective in product development, we need to continuously adapt the way we work. And more importantly, we need to be able to react to changes.

In the last few months I wrote several times on this topicand have been talking to many experts on the subject. The result is an initial catalog of 18 samples, which I was able to present at the ReConf last week.

5 steps to use

To use the patterns, we follow 5 steps, which is also shown in the video with examples:

1. Identify the problem - Patterns solve problems, so a concrete problem is usually the starting point
2. Measure problem - We can only recognize whether a measure is effective if we can measure it. This can also be a qualitative assessment.
3. Select pattern - Now a suitable pattern is selected from the catalog. To do this, we must at least take a superficial look at the patterns beforehand.
4. Implementation - Three elements must work together for successful implementation: People, Processes & Methods, and Tools
5. Evaluate result - Have we reached our goal?
